Chocolate Banana Crepes

INGREDIENTS

• Crepe Batter:
• 1/2 cup whole or 2% milk
• 1 1/2 tablespoons melted butter
• 1 egg yolk
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 2 teaspoons hazelnut liqueur
• 1 tablespoon cocoa
• 2 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar
• 1/3 cup white flour
• Chocolate Sauce:
• 1/2 tablespoon butter
• 1 tablespoon whole or 2% milk
• 2 teaspoons hazelnut liqueur
• 1 tablespoon cocoa
• 2 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar
• 2 ripe bananas, sliced

DIRECTIONS

1. In a medium bowl, stir together 1/2 cup milk, 1 1/2 tablespoons melted butter, egg yolk, vanilla, and 2 teaspoons hazelnut liqueur. Whisk 1 tablespoon cocoa into liquid until completely incorporated. Next, whisk in 2 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar until completely incorporated. Then gradually whisk in flour until completely incorporated. Set aside.

2. Melt 1/2 tablespoon butter in a saucepan over low heat. Stir 1 tablespoon milk and 2 teaspoons hazelnut liqueur into melted butter. Stir in 1 tablespoon cocoa and 2 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar. Set over very low heat to keep warm.

3. Spray a non-stick frying pan or crepe pan with cooking spray, and heat over medium heat. Pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the pan, and swirl to form a very thin disk; cook for about 2 minutes. Flip, and cook about 1 minute more.

4. Place crepe on a plate. Add 1/4 sliced bananas to crepe, and spoon 1/4 of the chocolate sauce over the bananas. Roll or fold crepe, and sprinkle with confectioners’ sugar. Repeat steps 3 and 4. Serve crepes warm.

Fight stress with S.T.R.E.S.S.

Sleep- Usually we demand more from our body than it can give and it, consequently, reduces our capability of performance. A minimum of eight hours of sleep everyday ensures that we are well rested to take on the challenges of the next day without feeling fatigued, tired and irritated.

Treat yourself- Take a break to do things you like: Go for a long ride in the car or take a weekend off and watch only comedy movies on your home theatre. When you are stressed you are not able to contribute positively to your family, environment or the society in general.

Relax- There is nothing in the world that is worth spoiling your health for. So, take some time to relax both mentally and phisically. Make an appointment for a salon, meditate, book yourself in a resort… Relax!

Eat well- Stress weakens the immune system. Ensure that you have a hearty breakfast and nutritious meals irrespective of how busy you may be. The way you consume food is also important: instead of eating while driving or on the move, you should have your meals on a relaxed fashion.

Symbolic clearance of mind- People who are capable of power naps actually free their minds of any thought for ten minutes and wake up completely rejuvenated. Meditation is another manner in which you can train yourself to free your mind of worries.

Supercharge yourself- When there are times when you know that you need to handle something urgent you can use the power of your mind to charge yourself. All that it requires is grit and a strong will power to make it work. Look at things from a positive angle and see how you feel energized to take things head and resolve issues.

Aside from speculations and media scandals surrounding Michael Jackson’s death, the news came as a shock to everyone on June 25. A music icon was lost. And now, more than ever, people have truly realized what kind of power and influence he had worldwide. On July 7, millions of people connected through music in a memorial, where several artists paid tribute to him and his music.

Are his songs close to his reality? Or our reality for 

that matter? Here are some snippets we have collected. 

Read them and decide for yourself.

This time, I am going to focus on a few words that look alike, however, if you misspell you will probably be misunderstood.

Let’s start with compliment, just the way it is in this sentence, simply means to say something nice to somebody. However, if you write with the letter “e”, complement, you mean that something goes well with another, a good combination, making them seem better because they are together (another cognate).

Then there are these two other words: complementary and complimentary. The former is the adjective for complement; however, even though the latter,

complimentary, might also be the adjective for compliment, it can also mean when something is given free for people, for example, food, books, tickets, etc, as in:

“There was a complimentary bottle of champagne in the hotel room.”

“I’ve got some complimentary tickets for the theatre tonight.”
